Wrap -Up Blog Post

I’m glad I decided to take this class for so many reasons. Even though I sign up for this class late because I needed an elective, I thought it was worth it.  I think I learned a lot of different techniques from each project. I was familiar with Photoshop but I saw my improvement with the projects. I loved this class because I got to learn how to use different programs, which will benefit me later on in my career. Lastly, in this course I was able to be creative with every project.

My favorite project was when we used adobe illustrator to create a logo. I liked this project because it gave me the opportunity to be creative. Another reason was I had heard of this program but never got the chance to use it.  I enjoyed this project because the logo I created was a sewing machine. In addition to that I learned a lot of different techniques when creating the logo.

One of the skills that I learned that will benefit me in the future is using the quick selection tool to remove the background. I also found other tools that would remove the background but the quick selection was my favorite. For illustrator I learned how to use the pen tool which was a very important too in this program. I believe learning how to use this tool will allow me to be more creative when creating designs. The audio and video program I had never heard of them. In addition to that I learned how to unlink a video to only get the sound or vice versa.

Since I’m majoring in apparel design I see myself in the future using Photoshop and illustrator. I already use these programs for my fashion illustration class. I think using the programs in both of the classes has helped me improve my overall skills. I wouldn’t say it influenced me but it gave me an understanding of what skills are expected to successful in these programs.

I would say no because I learned many different skills with all the programs. When I was working on the logo, I Googled tutorials on how to create sewing machine. Overall, this course was great and I can apply the skills I learned in my future career.

For the final video I changed a lot of things. I took into consideration all the feedback that was given to me from my group. In the final video I added two clips one was of me introducing the topic and the other was of me explaining why I love fashion.  Another difference was I added transitions to most of the videos. Lastly, a suggestion that was given to me was to add a voice over while my outfits were being displayed on the screen.

On the draft video I started with a video of leaves and a title that said” Fall Look Book 2014”. For the final video I changed the beginning to a video clip of me introducing what the actual video is going to be about. After that I put a title that says” Let’s get started”, I used this as a transition to start the actual video. Then after that I placed the video of the leaves and added the music. Next I added the video of myself wearing my brown combat boots and have that introduce outfit number 1. I repeated this step for the other two outfits but with different shoes.

Outfit number one starts with a video showing the whole outfit. While this video clip was playing I added a voice over. This technique was repeated for the other two outfits. Along with this I put the words: “Outfit #1” and they’re display by using the crawling effect. This step was repeated for the other two outfits.  Then I decided to add a video of an upper body view of the outfit and a description of where I bought the clothes. After that I use the cross dissolve to transition to the next clip. This clip was a view of me wearing my white converse. Then some seconds later theirs a clip of me wearing outfit #2. Next I added a video of a lower view of the outfit and had put text that describe where I bought the clothing.

Afterwards, I added the video of the view of me wearing the black combat boots and put the word “Outfit #3” by using the crawling effect. Then I added the video that shows the whole outfit. I also added two more video that shows different angles of the clothing. Next I added the dip black effect and then it shows all three outfits (still images) on the same screen. I accomplished this by using the cop tool.  Along with this I added a title with the still effect. I also added a short clip of music while the images were being shown.

Lastly, I added the turn page transition to the video of me explaining why I love fashion. Then for the end I added a title which explained the credits and I put the scrolling effect. I also added music by fading it in and fading it out at the last.

For this assignment we had to gather videos/ images to put a video together. The video had to relate with our topic. Since the topic I choose is about myself, I decided to record the video on something I like. I gather videos of myself wearing three different looks. My idea came from youtube. I saw people wearing different outfits and describing where they bought the clothing at. The name of these videos are called “Look book”. I thought this idea was great since it describes my love for fashion.

Since most “Look books” are categorized by season I decided to do mine on fall attire. All of the videos and images where taken in my backyard. To represent the meaning of fall I decided to start the video with a view of a tree with orange and brown leaves. I also put in a title which was “Fall Look Book 2014”. After that I decided to take a video of myself wearing my brown combat boots and have that introduce outfit number 1. I repeated this step for the other two outfits but with different shoes.

For all of the outfits I told my sister to take videos from different angles. Outfit number one starts with a video showing the whole outfit.

Next I added the video that shows the whole outfit. I also added another video that shows different angles of the clothing. I also added text that described where I bought the clothes. While the text was screening I added another video which showed the upper view of the clothing. After I added the dip black effect and shows images of outfit #1 then outfit #2 and 3 are displayed on the next clip but on the same screen.

Lastly, I added a title which explained the credits and I put the scrolling effect. I also added the music at last. I made the song start by using the exponential fade transition and at the end I used cross grain transition to fade out the music. For my final I’m thinking of adding a video of me looking through my closet and deciding what to wear.

Final audio

For this assignment we had to basically tell a story from our topic. Since my topic was about myself I was brainstorming things I like to do and things about myself. I thought to myself, “hey I’m an apparel design major and I love to sew”. Then I came to a conclusion that the story should be about the time I started sewing. I decided to redo it because I didn’t save it as a multitrack and plus I needed to make a lot of changes.

I changed so many things including the intro because it was literally an intro about me. I changed it to make it more interesting an appealing to the listeners. I decided to record myself again because my voice was too low and like I said before it was not appealing. Another thing I changed was I recorded a “conclusion” to wrap up the audio. The music also changed its more cheerful compared to the draft audio. For the final audio, I added my sisters recording and I cut all the “so’s”. Lastly, I recorded myself sewing a piece of fabric so I can get the noise of the sewing machine.

For the music I added an EDM(electric dancing music) song because I wanted to be more cheerful. I had to use the cutting tool because the song had some words. I started the music a little earlier than the recording of myself. I faded in the music at the beginning and lower the music because it would intervene with the rest of the audio. Before the sewing machine starts I had to fade out the music and start it back again by fading in the music. Lastly I turn the volume up when I was finish talking and fade out.

The recording of myself I had to record it again because the one from my draft was not that interesting and it was hard to hear. For this recording I didn’t had to edit no extra words as I did in the draft. I put the recording of the sewing machine when I said “I grabbed a piece of fabric and started sewing some stitches”. I thought this would give the audio a more realistic feel. Finally, I was told that a good story should have a conclusion. For the conclusion I decided to record myself again and I said” even though my finger was bleeding, that never stop me from learning how to sew”. I think the final audio shows a better story because of the changes I made.

Draft Audio

For this assignment we had to basically tell a story from our topic. Since my topic was about myself I was brainstorming things I like to do and things about myself. I thought to myself, “hey I’m an apparel design major and I love to sew”. Then I came to a conclusion that the story should be about the time I started sewing.

I began by using my iPhone and I recorded myself telling the story. I began with introducing myself a bit then I started the story. I thought it would be a great idea to add my sister telling the rest of the story. The reason I added her in the audio was because she was next to me when I started sewing the piece of cloth.

Next my sister send me her recording of the rest of the story, I started looking at songs. When I was looking at songs at first I didn’t know what song would fit the story. After browsing many songs I decided to choose a song call Spanish cedar. I thought this song had a cool beat and also there was no words.

In my recording I notice I said “so” a lot of times.  I decided to use the cutting tool to remove it. After that I listen to my sisters recording for errors and she also had repetitive “so’s”.I decide to use the cutting tool again to remove the “so’s” my sister said. Next I put my recording and my sisters together. Then I added the song but I notice my voice was too low and the music was higher. I fixed this by adding four points two at the beginning and two at the end. The second and third point were moved to 10. Decimals, they were placed in the beginning of the recording and at the end. Finally I faded the beginning and end of the song; also I placed the music to play first and end last.
